3 amazing apps to share content through your mobile
“I have no time to do my social media”. That’s the most common pain I hear from people who attend our Social Media Demystified course. Of course I understand. I understand that they have to spent at least 2 hours a day to do their email. But they don’t see the benefits (yet) of spending a bit less time on email and divert this time to social media. So if they don’t want to sacrifice some email time, then the best thing is to do your social media when you tend to do “nothing”, in other words, when you commute. So instead of reading the Metro or Evening Standard on the train why not share some amazing content through your mobile? And here are my 3 mobile killer apps that make this an easy thing to do.
The 3 apps you need are Flipboard, Pocket and Bufferapp. Flipboard is your social media newpaper. It lets people discover and share content in beautiful, simple, and meaningful ways. Pocket is your tool to save interesting articles, videos and more from the web for later enjoyment on any device. And Bufferapp is a really good app to share your social media content according a pre-set schedule. Within each of these App settings you can connect all three of them together. And that’s when the fun begins.
I start with browsing through Flipboard and look for articles, photos, content that I would like to share. As soon as I find a post, I click “share” within Flipboard and I can then select Pocket to share it to. So I end up with a library of links to interesting articles that I would like to share. When I’m finished with browsing, I go into Pocket and select an article that I would like to share. I click “share” and I can then transfer it to Bufferapp, with a personal note to each post if I want to. In Bufferapp I have set up my daily posting schedule. For instance, post on twitter, linkedin, facebook page and G+ page, everyday at 11am. Each article I transfer from Pocket to Bufferapp will go into the buffer. This allows me to schedule a whole week of content to be shared across my social networks. Bufferapp will give me a notice when my buffer is empty so I can then go back to Flipboard and find more great content.
This works very well for me. It allows me to schedule content to be shared with a minimum of effort, and stay on the radar screen of all my followers. And I notice that by doing this I get people retweeting and sharing/liking my posts. Which will help me in developing my online reputation. And that’s what we want isn’t it?
